Previous owner and CEO for 40 years, now retired, of Iverson Perennial Gardens, Inc., the largest wholesale grower of perennial garden plants in America, serving 20 states and over 3,000 retail outlets. Iverson is familiar with all aspects of organization management, employee management, legal and financial affairs of operating a successful goal directed organization.
Iverson organized and put on a successful show for professionals in the
landscape design and management industry for 12 years, attracting 500 top level professionals to the all-day event. Mr. Iverson has lectured to various professional groups. Mr. Iverson studied and received a BS degree from Northwestern University School of Business majoring in Marketing and Finance.
Iverson attended the Chicago Academy of Art, Chicago, Il., a professional art school for people who seek to be employed in a professional art career. Iverson served as the personal representative of five Mayors of Chicago as part of the Sister Cities Program as the Chicago representative for cultural relations between Chicago and its sister cities in China and Japan; being involved in numerous cultural exchanges between the U.S. and China, visiting China 25 times from 1984 to 2010; arranged the first ever exhibition of cultural relics from the Forbidden City, Beijing, China, to visit major U.S. museums during 2000-2002. In 2010 Iverson taught Business Strategy to International MBA students Tongji University, Shanghai. Iverson authored and edited a new translation of Romance of the Three Kingdoms, one of the four major classics of Chinese literature which is now being published by a major publisher.
Iverson has served on the Advisory Board of the University of Illinois Agricultural Advisory Service for Cook Country, Il. (Chicago is entirely within Cook County) which coordinated programs for community benefit and manages the 4H program for Cook County, Ill. Iverson served as Treasurer of the (Chicago) Mayor’s Youth Conservation Corp and served as an elected director on the Lake County Soil and Water Conservation District. Iverson served as a Director on the Chicago Park District Horticultural Society to create a new botanic garden within the downtown Chicago area.
