Arlete has being engaged in deaf community since 1988. She worked in Brazil with the deaf and deaf blind in various professional capacities from 1988 to 2001. She was born in Brazil and now a U.S. citizen, She chose United States to continue her passionate philanthropic work with the deaf and the deaf/blind. Arlete earned degree in Psychology in 1989 at Catholic University Dom Bosco.
She’s also certified in Social Psychometrics by Cesir-Ramain-Thiers Center in Rio de Janeiro. Arlete worked 11 years in the field of psychology in Brazil, with children, teenagers, adult deaf, and hearing persons at private psychology office. Certified Training included aspects of interaction with the deaf/blind children by National Deaf/Blind and Rubella Association and the World Union of the Blind.
Earned certificated SKI-HI Training at Florida State School for the Deaf and the Blind to be a Parents’ Adviser. Arlete is certified in Brazilian Sign Language. Worked as psychologist at MS State Special School for the Deaf in Brazil. Performed sign language interpretation at regular State Schools attending deaf students in the classroom. Worked at DETRAN Department of Transit in Brazil as interpreter for the deaf attempting to acquire driver’s license. She completed Beginning, Intermediate, and Advanced classes in American Sign Language at Hearing Impaired Persons, Inc with the teacher Ms.Velma Wright in Port Charlotte, Florida. Arlete has being engaged in U.S. deaf communities since 2001 to the present.
Worked in Pinellas County at CHSS Inc. which is a company to support people with disabilities. Currently living in Largo, FL. She attended in Central Florida Institute in medical field for MA education. As volunteer Arlete has been engaged in the U.S. deaf community since 2001. Attended social meetings and fundraising in Charlotte County and Pinellas County, Florida. She was connected to Brazilian deaf communities and helped them to activate the State Deaf Association by promoting events to enhance the deaf and the deaf-blind lives. Performed a significant philanthropic work related to interaction and personal growth to the deaf and the deaf-blind in Brazil. Assisted the Brazilian deaf people with their special needs related to communication at ASSUMS - Association for the Deaf of the State of Mato Grosso do Sul (MS), Brazil. While living in Brazil, she dedicated her vacation time to take care of a deaf-blind person which she helps and keeps in contact until the present.
In connection with Federal University of MS in Brazil, Arlete organized and presented TV show which brought information focusing on community services for the deaf interpreted in sign language. In 1990s Arlete joined to a several other professionals in Sao Paulo and founded a first group of support for the deaf-blind in Brazil entitled as “Grupo Brasil”. She's a trained volunteer member and donated her time to Suncoast Hospice in Florida to assist terminally case patients. Currently she's moving forward her non-profit organization for the deaf and deaf-blind.
